Spicy Bourbon Apple Tart

Ingredients
- 1 pie crust
- 3 Granny Smith apples peeled and diced
- 1 TBSP granulated sugar
- 2 TBSP light brown sugar
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- Cayenne to taste
- 1 TBSP lemon juice freshly squeezed
- 1 oz. Bourbon
- ½ TBSP cornstarch
- ½ cup flour
- ¾ cup light brown sugar packed
- ¼ tsp kosher salt
- ⅓ cup rolled oats
- 5 TBSP unsalted butter cold and diced
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Spray the muffin tin with butter-flavored cooking spray.
- Cut 12 two-inch circles out of your pie crust.
- Add the pie crust rounds to the muffin tins.
- In a small saucepan, add the apples, granulated sugar, light brown sugar, cinnamon, cayenne, lemon juice, and cornstarch.
- Cook for 5-7 minutes until the apples are softened and thickened. Add the bourbon and lit it to burn off the alcohol.
- For the crumble topping, add the flour, light brown sugar, salt, oats, and butter to a bowl and combine with a stand mixer.
- Add one tablespoon of apple filling to each muffin well.
- Add two tablespoons of the crumble topping on top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Let cool completely before carefully removing.
