“Food is merely a platform for condiments.”

— Peter Marshall

Limitless is a kickass hot sauce condiment that, when coupled with smoking, takes any recipe from “just another drumstick recipe” to “wow!”

When it comes to hot sauce enthusiasts, there are two categories: occasional users vs hard-line devotees that have lapped up every brand and type of hot sauce they could get their hands on. These fans travel state to state to attend hot sauce awards and openings and sample the latest and the greatest. Their community has a distinct culture that’s just as laid back as the craft beer crowd, but with a much more naughty attitude mostly likely set in motion when the Tabasco hot sauce set off America’s hot sauce obsession way back in 1868.

Hot sauce is thousands of years old. The history of its inception may be murky, but archaeologists have evidence of humans using chili peppers in food as far back as 2,400 years ago. With Mexico producing an incredible 140 varieties of chili peppers for our globe, this widespread and notable human craving for heat and spice has made hot sauce one of the world’s most popular condiments, which luckily, is actually good for health and well-being. Hot sauce’s number one ingredient, chili peppers, contains more vitamin C than an orange and more vitamin A than carrots, and just a dash of it curbs appetite, reduces sugar cravings, and helps with weight management – a moving target most of us have been chasing.
Today, the hot sauce market is quite, well, fiery thanks to hot chili’s addictive properties and the rush of feel-good endorphins that take over the brain when chili pepper’s capsaicin does its thing. Remember no pain, no gain. Have some milk, ice cream, or yogurt nearby to cool your tongue and gut when you’re about to indulge in a bit of a masochist gustatory perspiration, unless of course, instead of guzzling it down you’re planning to add them to your chicken drumsticks.

Chicken is one of the most widespread animals that were domesticated by the Chinese for cockfighting 8,000 years ago, ‘till they figured out how good it tasted. As a matter of fact, South Korea, not too far from China, has more fried chicken restaurants than all McDonald’s restaurants worldwide.

While most Americans like to hassle the chicken with questions like “why did you cross the road?” We prefer to leave it alone because we don’t want to piss off the closest living relative of the Tyrannosaurus Rex. And unlike Gainesville, Florida, where the law dictates people must eat fried chicken with their bare hands, here in Montana we don’t care how you eat your chicken. We do care how you eat your steak, but eating chicken is completely a personal preference prepared roasted, baked, grilled, sautéed, braised, fried, or smoked just as long as the meat is tender and flavorful, a task easily achieved with Montana’s own Head Water’s Poultry Rub and Arthur Wayne’s Hot Sauces.

The Pipestone Poultry Rub enhances all the natural flavors of meat with a bit of sweet and savory spice blend and a hint of cumin that does all the right things to those yummy chicken legs. Arthur Wayne’s sauces are all quite lovely, especially the Mild and Wild selection, but if you’re a bit of a nutty heat chaser or simply want to test your chops try the Limitless. Ladies, don’t shy away. Seems like women are better at tolerating heat, just be sure to start low and work your way up. To increase your interest we better mention that hot sauce promotes weight loss & well-being by combating nasty free radicals, increasing metabolism, and reducing appetite and sugar cravings which, in our book, is pretty awesome. They are also full of antioxidants to help boost your immune system, so you could be a lean mean fighting machine.

Next time you’re in a jam, running around like a *chicken with its head cut off* try Montana’s flavors and turn a bland meal into an intriguing spicy dinner. Grab your rubs. Grab your sauces. And let’s get the party started.
